OSLO, Norway, Aug. 31, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- sensiBel, the leader in optical MEMS sensing, today introduced its newest product: the SBM140B, the first microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) microphone to combine an 84dBA signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and a 146dB SPL acoustic overload point (AOP) — delivering a 136dB dynamic range, reproducing audio with industry-leading precision and clarity.

sensiBel’s Optical MEMS Architecture
sensiBel’s optical MEMS architecture, the foundation of its sensor portfolio, measures the displacement of the device’s membrane in response to an audio input. It enables very low noise and extremely high dynamic range of 136dB — providing a multitude of benefits to a broad range of sensors, including acoustic sensors.

Unlike conventional capacitive MEMS microphones — which can’t handle large swings in sound levels — sensiBel’s optical MEMS architecture maintains full performance across an ultra-wide acoustic range in one configuration.
